Hard Grove Index The tester operates according to the principle of grinding a certain quantity of dry coal sample in a cylindrical and stationary lower chamber by applying a fixed force to the balls in the lower chamber by means of the upper chamber and rotating it in a certain number of turns at a constant speed.
